Tourism in Oum El Bouaghi

Oum El Bouaghi is a Constantine high-plateau wilaya, 480 km east of Algiers. At 850 m altitude, it's an agricultural and pastoral wilaya little known to tourism, but home to one of Algeria's largest salt lakes: Garaet El Tarf (sebkha), refuge of migratory birds and spectacular lunar landscape. The region also offers infinite cereal plateaus, pine forests, and the memory of Massinissa's resistance, Numidian king of the 2nd century BC whose traces the wilaya retains.
